Privacy Policy
Last Updated: June 29, 2026
DT Malware Safe is designed with privacy as a core principle. We collect as little data as possible to operate the service. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and how.
2.1 Information We CollectA. Data collected automatically (minimal)When you activate a license key, we record:
- License key ID (a random identifier — not linked to personal data)
- Activation timestamp
- License tier and expiry date
We do NOT collect your name, email, IP address, device fingerprint, or hardware ID during key activation.
B. Data that never leaves your deviceThe following data is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to us:
- Files scanned by DT Malware Safe — file contents are never uploaded
- SHA256 hashes of scanned files — computed locally, never sent to our servers
- Scan results and threat reports — stored in ~/.dtmalwaresafe/ on your device only
- Quarantined files — stored locally in ~/.dtmalwaresafe/quarantine/
- Clipboard contents monitored by the identity module — never stored or transmitted
- Email addresses you enter in the Identity Monitor — used only to query HaveIBeenPwned (see below)
C. Third-party API calls you initiateWhen you explicitly use certain features, DT Malware Safe makes outbound requests to third-party services:
- Signature updates: DT Malware Safe downloads malware signature data from MalwareBazaar (abuse.ch). No data about your device or files is sent.
- Phishing filter updates: DT Malware Safe downloads domain blocklists from OpenPhish and URLhaus. No identifying data is sent.
- Email breach check: When you enter an email in Identity Monitor, DT Malware Safe queries HaveIBeenPwned. Only your email address is sent to HIBP. DT Malware Safe does not see or store this query.
- Password breach check: DT Malware Safe uses k-anonymity — only the first 5 characters of your password's SHA1 hash are sent to HIBP. Your password is never transmitted in any form.
2.2 Information We Do Not CollectWe explicitly do not collect:
- Names, email addresses, or contact information
- Payment information (handled entirely by our payment processor)
- Device identifiers, hardware IDs, or fingerprints
- Scanned file contents or file paths
- Browsing history or network traffic
- Location data
- Usage analytics or telemetry
2.3 Payment Processing
Payment processing is handled by our payment processor (Gumroad, Lemon Squeezy, or Paddle depending on your purchase location). We do not store your credit card details. Please review your payment processor's privacy policy for details on how they handle your payment data.
2.4 Data Storage and Security
All data processed by DT Malware Safe is stored locally on your device in the directory ~/.dtmalwaresafe/. This data is not encrypted at rest by default. We recommend enabling full-disk encryption on your device (BitLocker on Windows) for additional protection.
2.5 Data RetentionSince we collect almost no personal data, there is very little to retain or delete. License activation records (key ID + timestamp) are retained for the life of the subscription for fraud prevention. You may request deletion of your activation record at any time by contacting
support@dtmalwaresafe.com.
2.6 Children's Privacy
DT Malware Safe is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

3.2 EligibilityTo be eligible for a refund under this policy:
- Your refund request must be submitted within 30 days of the initial purchase date
- The request must be submitted by the original purchaser
- The request must include your order ID or purchase email
Refund requests submitted after 30 days will not be approved except at our sole discretion in exceptional circumstances.

Product Disclaimer
Last Updated: June 29, 2026
4.1 Nature of the Product
DT Malware Safe is a malware scanner and security tool designed to complement your existing security setup. It uses signature-based detection, behavioral analysis, YARA pattern matching, and heuristic analysis to identify potential threats.
DT MALWARE SAFE IS NOT A TRADITIONAL ANTIVIRUS PRODUCT. It does not operate at the kernel level, does not intercept system calls in real time at the operating system level, and does not replace your operating system's built-in security features such as Windows Defender.
4.2 Intended UseDT Malware Safe is designed to be used:
- As a second-opinion scanner alongside your primary antivirus or Windows Defender
- To detect threats that may have been missed by other tools
- To monitor for ransomware behaviors, suspicious USB devices, phishing URLs, and identity exposure
- As a security awareness and scanning tool for personal and business use
4.3 No Guarantee of DetectionNo security software can guarantee detection of all threats at all times. DT Malware Safe makes no warranty, expressed or implied, that:
- It will detect every piece of malware or every threat on your system
- It will prevent all cyberattacks, data breaches, or security incidents
- Its signature database is complete or fully up to date at any given moment
- Its heuristic engine will identify all novel or zero-day threats
Cybersecurity threats evolve continuously. New malware is created every day, and no static or dynamic analysis tool can provide 100% protection.
4.4 Limitation of ScopeDT Malware Safe currently does not provide:
- Kernel-level or driver-level system protection
- Network packet inspection or firewall functionality
- Boot sector or MBR (Master Boot Record) protection
- Email attachment scanning integrated with email clients
- Browser extension or web proxy protection
- Protection against hardware-level attacks or firmware exploits
4.5 Recommended Security PracticesDT Malware Safe works best as part of a layered security approach. We strongly recommend:
- Keeping Windows Defender or another primary antivirus enabled alongside DT Malware Safe
- Keeping your operating system and all software up to date with security patches
- Using strong, unique passwords and a password manager
- Enabling two-factor authentication on all important accounts
- Regularly backing up important data to an offline or cloud backup
- Being cautious with email attachments and links from unknown senders
- Avoiding downloading software from untrusted sources
4.6 False PositivesLike all security software, DT Malware Safe may occasionally flag legitimate files as suspicious (false positives). This is an inherent limitation of behavioral and heuristic analysis. If DT Malware Safe flags a file you believe is safe:
- Do not permanently delete the file immediately — quarantine it first
- Verify the file's legitimacy through independent means
- You can restore quarantined files from within DT Malware Safe if they are confirmed safe
DT Malware Safe is not liable for any damage caused by acting on a false positive detection.
4.7 Third-Party Data Sources
DT Malware Safe's signature database is populated from MalwareBazaar (abuse.ch) and other free, publicly available threat intelligence sources. These sources are provided by third parties. DT Malware Safe does not control their accuracy, completeness, or availability. The quality of detection is partially dependent on the quality and freshness of these external data sources.
4.8 Use at Your Own RiskBy using DT Malware Safe, you acknowledge that:
- You understand the limitations described in this disclaimer
- You accept full responsibility for your security decisions
- DT Malware Safe is a tool to assist — not a complete security solution on its own
- The ultimate responsibility for your device's security remains with you
4.9 No Professional Security Advice
Nothing in DT Malware Safe's software, documentation, website, or communications constitutes professional cybersecurity advice. If you believe your system has been compromised, we recommend consulting a qualified cybersecurity professional in addition to using security tools.
