Nintendo has confirmed that Mario Kart Tour, its mobile racing spin-off, will end service on September 29 at 11 p.m. PT (September 30 in most other time zones), just over seven years after its 2019 launch. Unlike Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, which received a paid offline "Complete" edition when its own service ended, Nintendo says no offline version of Mario Kart Tour is planned.

Service ends September 29–30, 2026 11:00 p.m. PT / 2:00 a.m. ET / 7:00 a.m. BST / 8:00 a.m. CET

What Nintendo has said

The announcement was posted to the official Mario Kart Tour social media account and website, thanking players for their support since the game launched. Nintendo has stated it currently has no plans to release an offline version, a contrast to how it handled the 2024 shutdown of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, which lived on as a standalone paid app after its original service ended.

What happens to Rubies and the Gold Pass

July 7, 2026 Sale of Rubies, the game's premium currency, ended. Existing Rubies can still be spent in the Spotlight Shop, Mii Racing Suit Shop, and Coin Rush until the game closes.
July 7, 2026 Automatic Gold Pass subscription renewals and new subscriptions were disabled. Players already subscribed keep most benefits for free through shutdown.
August 4–5, 2026 All players, subscribed or not, gain free access to most Gold Pass benefits, including 200cc races and doubled daily points, starting with the Vacation Tour.
September 29–30, 2026 Mario Kart Tour service ends entirely. The app will no longer be playable after this point.
Context: Mario Kart Tour stopped receiving new courses, drivers, karts, and gliders back in October 2023, with subsequent updates simply rerunning previous tours. Much of that content has already found a second life as paid DLC in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's Booster Course Pass, and in elements of Mario Kart World.
When exactly does Mario Kart Tour shut down?

Service ends September 29 at 11:00 p.m. Pacific Time, which is September 30 in most other time zones, including 2:00 a.m. Eastern, 7:00 a.m. British Summer Time, and 8:00 a.m. Central European Time.

Will there be an offline version to keep playing after shutdown?

No. Nintendo has said an offline version is not currently planned, unlike the paid offline release that followed Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp's shutdown.

What happens to unused Rubies and Gold Pass subscriptions?

Rubies can still be spent in-game until service ends, and existing Gold Pass subscribers keep most benefits for free through shutdown. All players get most Gold Pass perks for free starting in early August.
